This year more than ever, I have a lot of men in my life to make gifts for. Four brothers, my dad, my fiance, and future father-in-law equals 7 guys and that’s just family alone! Let’s face it, guys can be pretty tough to make gifts for. Girls are usually much easier, they always tell you what they want. But men can be more challenging. Whether it’s a dad who has everything, brothers with varying interests, or a boyfriend or husband who “doesn’t need anything”, I have definitely struggled with what to give the men in my life. It wasn’t until recently that I mastered handmade gifts for men, which is why this year I am sharing my five favorite DIYs you can make for almost any guy in your life.
Knitted Fisherman’s Cap
This knitted fisherman’s cap pattern is one of my most popular blogs by far! I love the pattern because it makes a very simple and quick hat you can gift to anyone! I make one every year for my fianće and he absolutely loves it. This is a unisex pattern but I must say guys especially look really great in the fishermen’s stitch.
Beeswax Lotion Bars
Beeswax Lotion bars are such a crowd-pleaser with the guys in my life. Skincare is such an overlooked category when considering handmade gifts for men. My dad has very dry skin so he loves using the lotion bars, especially in the wintertime. What I love about lotion bars is that you can customize their scent and healing properties by using different herbs and oils. In the winter, I prefer to add lavender, calendula, or dandelion for a more soothing healing lotion bar.
Knitted Fisherman’s Cowl
The knitted fisherman’s cowl is the perfect companion to the fisherman’s cap above. This pattern makes a masculine scarf alternative that is warm and stylish. I like to make this cowl if I have a little bit more time and want to give something that is unique and special.
Wooden Spoon/Cutting Board Butter
Most of the guys in my life love to cook and use wooden spoons and cutting boards exclusively. This recipe for wood seasoning butter is quick, easy, and makes a sweet gift packaged in a small tin paired with a lovely handmade charcuterie board or wooden spoon set. I also think this little gift combo would be perfect for a hostess/host gift!
Homemade Beard Oil
One of my recent favorites to make is homemade beard oil. Many of the men in my family love to sport beards throughout the winter and a proper oil is paramount to keeping things hydrated and tame. I love that I can use whatever oils I have on hand to whip up a quick beard oil on short notice. This one makes a great gift paired with a wide-toothed wooden beard comb!
