Light and Spreadable Whipped Honey

whipped honey

Whipped Honey is a delicious way to elevate a predictable pantry staple. It makes honey spreadable, light and fluffy to serve with all your favorite baked goods and beyond. I love to spread it on cornbread, scones, a slice of sourdough, or even eat it by itself! This recipe also makes an impressive gift.

I started making this delicious spread when I noticed how expensive small jars of these were at a local specialty honey store. Once I realized that I could simply whip honey in my stand mixer for the same result, I knew it would be a pantry staple. One thing I love about whipped honey is that you can easily incorporate other flavors into it. Check out the section below on variations I like, but as always I recommend you get creative and experiment with other flavors!

How to use whipped honey

I love to spread whipped honey over toast or any baked goods including pancakes or scones. You can also drizzle it in oatmeal, yogurt, or on top of fruit. I love to serve it on a charcuterie board, especially with brie! For more savory options, try drizzling whipped honey over chicken and waffles, honey glazed carrots, or add it to BBQ.

Variations

Lemon extract

Add a few drops to taste as you whip for sweet & sour.

Cinnamon

I sprinkle in around a teaspoon (but do this to taste as well) of cinnamon (this also works great for pumpkin pie spice.

Cranberry Honey

Try out my honey-fermented cranberries recipe and whip the leftover honey for another sweet and sour option.

Garlic Honey

I use honey leftover from my garlic fermented honey recipe. You can also add some flakey salt to this one!

Lavender

This one also takes some planning ahead. If you infuse your honey with lavender for a week or two before straining and whipping, it makes a really unique and versatile flavor.

Hot Honey

Add crushed red peppers and hot sauce to honey before whipping. This combination is amazing on a burger or with pork tenderloin.

Gifting Whipped Honey

A little presentation goes a long way to make a small jar of whipped honey a charming little gift. I like to tie some twine or ribbon and add a little tag to make things feel intentional and homespun. These are excellent hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, or additions to gift baskets for anyone.
