Every year I like to write a blog collecting DIY Christmas gift ideas, recipes, and how-to for Christmas gifts (or any holiday!). I try to include a variety of options for bakers, crafters, skincare junkies, and everybody in between. I’ve personally gifted all of these items and they were a huge hit, the candles in particular. Most of these ideas are also things I make for my home regularly and love to enjoy year-round. Investing in a few ingredients and some lovely packaging allows you to always have lovely homemade gifts at your fingertips.
Packaging DIY Christmas gifts
Packing is everything for making simple handmade gifts feel really special and unique. Adding a lovely tag or label, tying some ribbon, or getting a pretty bag can elevate anything. I like to keep lots of ribbon and twine around to wrap candles together or tie around a jar of sticky chai. Including a label adds lots of charm and lets people know what they’re receiving. You can cut your own or buy simple brown ones online. I also love to add a wax seal to my DIY Christmas gifts. I have an “R” wax seal which looks very bespoke on my gift tags and labels.

Beeswax candles
One of my favorite DIY Christmas gifts, I threw these in everyone’s stocking last year! Homemade taper candles make such a luxurious yet rustic gift that everyone can use in their home. If you want to ramp things up, include a few brass or pottery candlestick holders.
Honey fermented cranberries
I recently wrote this recipe for the blog and am obsessed with it! Fermented cranberries are an amazing make ahead gift and are shelf-stable for several months. They can be made into sauce, eaten whole for lots of vitamin C, or served over roasts, sandwiches, and wraps. Our favorite way to enjoy them so far has been mashed with salt and lemon juice and served over baked brie!
Cranberry Walnut sourdough bread
Another crowd pleaser, showing up to a party or white elephant with sourdough will be such a hit, trust me. My cranberry walnut recipe is full of seasonal flavor, but I also like to give my classic rustic loaf, or a batch of pumpkin bread, so choose your own adventure.
Braided crown knitting pattern
This gorgeous headband was the first knitting pattern I ever wrote and published on the blog. I love to make it for DIY Christmas gifts because of how unique and fun it looks. All the girls in my family have one and I get requests for more all the time!
Collagen marshmallows
Another delicious winter treat, homemade marshmallows are an easy but impressive little gift. I love to give these with a homemade hot cocoa mix in a jar for a sweet and festive gift. You can also include a fun thrifted pottery mug or other small treats for the kids!
Sticky chai
If you have tea lovers on your list, this sticky chai recipe is the perfect DIY Christmas gift. I like to make up a huge batch and divide it into cute jars for stocking stuffers. You can also make it caffeine-free by using rooibos tea instead of black.
Tallow lotion bars
These lotion bars have been such a hit with my family and friends recently. I will be taking a few with me to England in a few weeks since they travel so well. The tallow is very nourishing and the beeswax means I can throw them in any bag without things melting down.
Whipped tallow balm
My most popular tallow recipe makes the perfect DIY Christmas Gift. It is so luxurious and creamy and can be used for your face, hands, and body. You can even add essential oils to make a few unique scents. Add to a pretty glass jar with a ribbon and you have a crowd-pleaser for dry winter skin.
